Have you ever thought of your body as a car?  Think about the fact that our bodies are the vehicle we travel through life in.   We get a brand new body when we’re born and it has to last us for 60-70-80 or more years.

Some of us take better care of our cars than we do our bodies.  We certainly make sure the car gets regular oil changes, tune-ups and new tires when necessary.  Do we take our bodies for granted and not keep them in tip-top shape for this long ride through life?

Do you think about the fuel you’re putting into your body every day?  The food we eat is what fuels the bodies functions, cells, and organs.  Are we eating healthy, nutritious fruits, vegetables and whole grains that are beneficial and advantageous for long-lasting vigor?

You may not feel the difference immediately, but eating junk food loaded with chemicals, coloring and sugar will deteriorate your body over time.  Our bodies were not built to run on those things.   Like our car, our body needs clean oil – which are the nutrients, vitamins and minerals found in fresh fruits and vegetables to remain healthy.  Science has proven this over and over.

Some of us have bodies that have been in an accident or two.  They are not new and shiny and don’t always work perfectly any more.  This is all the more reason to take good care of your body!  We are the only ones who can maintain it to keep it in the best shape possible.   We need to keep it strong and healthy so we can push ourselves to do as much as we can with the vehicle we have now.

Take some time to read articles on diet and nutrition.  Do your own experiments.  Be conscious of how you feel after you eat chips, cookies or ice cream.  See how different it feels to eat a nice juicy peach, an apple or a banana.

I promise- your body will thank you.

Be your bodies friend.
